Teaching Philosophy and Experience

In addition to teaching vocals at Stagecoach Performing Arts School, I am passionate about providing personalised vocal coaching. I offer private 1-2-1 sessions from my studio in Colchester, Essex,  where I teach not only vocals, but also offer foundational knowledge in music theory (ABRSM), piano and guitar for singers interested in accompanying themselves or gaining further musical knowledge and understanding to support their singing.

I have been lecturing Vocal Anatomy and Singing Technique at Ruthie Henshall’s Cast, a new upcoming university, for the past two years and will be entering my third year this September. Ruthie has had a very successful career as leading lady in many West End productions. Working alongside her at CAST is a fabulous honour. This experience allows me to bring advanced academic insights into my teaching.

In addition, I have been Music Lead at a primary school for three years - teaching all of KS1 and KS2's music curriculum. I have also been involved with Stagecoach Colchester for the past three years now.

My approach is all about collaboration, support and understanding. I believe in working together to achieve your best potential, especially when working with individuals with special educational needs. I incorporate some music therapy techniques into my sessions when needed, tailoring each lesson to fit the unique needs of the individual.

My 1-2-1 lessons are not a traditional school environment; it’s a space where we explore and grow together, and I am here to guide you every step of the way.

With 8 years of training in the Estill Model, partaking in the Pathway to become a Master in Vocal Anatomy, I have a deep understanding of the voice, from children’s and adolescent voices to how hormonal changes during menopause can impact vocal function.

Understanding that the voice is an integral part of our identity, I am dedicated to supporting and empowering my students to navigate their vocal journey with confidence and skill. Singing should always be about reaching your full potential and challenging yourself, whilst having fun! I am here to ensure you are singing safely and to 'be the ears that listen' so the you can be free in taking the step to try something new!
